If I asked what ‘psychic’ meant, what you say? What images does that word conjure up?
An old lady in a headscarf peering into a crystal ball? Or perhaps a well known medium like John Edwards, Lisa Williams or David Wells?
Does the word psychic make you think of yourself?
Now wait, this isn’t just another blog post about how we’re all psychic (although trust me, we all are).
No. This is a blog post about the other meaning of the word psychic, and what I mean when I say I help women (just like you) tend to their psychic wellness.
If you look up psychic in the dictionary, this is what you’ll see:
psychic: /ˈsʌɪkɪk/ relating to or denoting faculties or phenomena that are apparently inexplicable by natural laws, especially involving telepathy or clairvoyance; relating to the soul or mind.
The first one is the one most people recognise. But what I’m interested in is the second definition.
Psychic is anything relating to the soul or mind.
So when I say I help people with their psychic wellness, what I really mean is I help you with strategies to look after your spiritual and mental health. I like to throw emotional health in there too, as otherwise our hearts can be neglected.
Psychic wellness is therefore all aspects of our non-physical wellness.
Psychic wellness is learning to tend to our energy so that we don’t take on other people’s crap (or spread our own psychic muddles around for other empaths to deal with).
Psychic wellness is learning to trust our non-physical senses, that are constantly feeding us just as much information and our eyes, it’s just that we don’t always know how to interpret it.
Psychic wellness is learning to create space in our lives for ourselves, it’s about tending to our souls as carefully and gently as we would tend to a garden, and about being super confident to say ‘no’ when we need to.
Most of all, it’s about stepping into our power as women, and creating the kind of world we want to live in and that we’re proud to hand onto our daughters and sons by doing the work we are here to do.
That’s what psychic means to me. That’s the path I’m placing myself on.
